some sunscreens could be contributing to killing coral reefs!

Please be careful what sunscreen you are using on your body and your kids bodies! Not only for your own health reasons but for the health of the planet! Some sunscreens contain oxybenzone and octinoxate, which are toxins. They are unhealthy for us and for the environment! They have been linked to causing breast cancer to become more aggressive, can damage dna, among many other things.

Set on the beautiful beaches of Hawaii, Reefs At Risk explores the harmful effects some sunscreen chemicals have on coral reefs, marine life, and people. This timely film takes viewers underwater to explore the beautiful marine environment and follows those on land trying to protect it.

Hawaii has passed a bill banning sunscreens that contain oxybenzone and octinoxate, it goes into affect in January 2021. It contributes to the bleaching of coral, which damages the coral and it can't recover.
